Dạng 6: Bài báo và báo cáo (Articles and Reprots)
Bài báo và báo cáo (Articles and Reports) là 2 dạng khó nhất trong Part 7 bởi vì chúng rất đa dạng. Bài báo thường có rất nhiều chủ đề khác nhau từ kinh tế tới văn hóa, từ lịch sử tới sản xuất….. Báo cáo là những văn bản thường hay xuất hiện trong môi trường làm việc.
1. Cấu trúc và hình thức của một bài bài báo hoặc một báo cáo.
Cấu trúc và hình thức của một bài báo hoặc một báo cáo thường đa dạng. Trong những bài báo và báo cáo, số liệu thống kê thường hay xuất hiện.
2. Dạng câu hỏi.
Những thông tin chính trong bài báo và trong báo cáo được tổ chức theo công thức 5W1H (What, When, Where, Why, Who and How). Do vậy hãy ghi nhớ công thức này khi bạn luyện tập về bài báo hoặc báo cáo.
a. Câu hỏi về chủ đề của một bài báo hoặc một báo cáo.
Những câu hỏi mẫu dạng này bao gồm 'What is the topic of this article' hoặc 'For what purpose is this report written'. Trong hầu hết trường hợp, câu trả lời có thể tìm được ở phần đầu tiên của đoạn văn.
b. Câu hỏi chi tiết.
Những câu hỏi dạng này yêu cầu bạn phải sử dụng kỹ năng scanning để tìm ra đáp án đúng.
c. Câu hỏi suy luận.
Những ví dụ phổ biến nhất của dạng câu hỏi này là 'What is inferred in this article' hay 'Where can this report/ article most probably be found?' Đối với những câu hỏi dạng này, hãy đảm bảo rằng bạn đọc toàn bộ đoạn văn để chọn ra phương án hợp lý nhất.
d. Câu hỏi mẫu.

The new factory will employ over 120 workers, most of whom will have high-paying manufacturing jobs. Superior Electronics had been looking for a place to open its new factory, and it appears that the tax cuts offered by the governor were enough to persuade them to open shop in Tennessee. A number of other states, including California, Florida, and Colorado, had attempted to woo Superior Electronics, but they were all unsuccessful in their bids.
